Project Description
This project developed the COMDEKS strategy for Nepal to help develop sound biodiversity management and sustainable livelihood activities. Focused on North Western Makawanpur (6 VDCs), it applied the Satoyama Initiative concept to address degradation caused by slash-and-burn agriculture. The strategy aims to maintain, rebuild, and revitalize socio-ecological production landscapes through five SI perspectives, outlining objectives, indicators, and potential micro-projects to support indigenous Chepang and Tamang communities.
Methodology
Baseline survey, stakeholder workshops, and application of Satoyama Initiative perspectives.
