Project Description

The 'Perception Study 2019' for UN Women Nepal explored deep-rooted discriminatory social norms and harmful practices hindering women's economic empowerment. Conducted across eight districts using qualitative and quantitative methods, it revealed barriers such as unpaid domestic work (averaging 10.43 hours daily for women), restrictions on mobility, and preference for sons. It also analyzed harmful practices like dowry, child marriage, and Chhaupadi. The study highlighted that education and independent income are critical levers for transforming restrictive gender roles.
